Fall Cross Country racing kicked off August 27th with our Vultures traveling to Prineville, OR for Round 1 of the Oregon League series. 14 racers represented the Rogue Valley in one of the hottest temperature races in recent memory. 9 out of our 14 hit the podium, and 4 racers lined up for the first time ever, including Colton Ainsworth and Kai Kuwabara who took 3rd and 5th place podiums in a field of 30+ riders. Sportsmanship kudos go out to Grant Heeter who picked up a racers water bottle during the race, and “saved the race” for the fellow competitor by returning it.
Congrats to our 1st place winner, Jade Savage, who will be rocking the Leader’s Jersey for Round 2.
The course was 3 miles/300 feet elevation per lap, and wound through desert sagebrush and trees under rarely seen August blue sky.. What a great day to be a Vulture.
The Oregon League has changed it’s categories to ability-based for this season, read more here.
